TAMK's degrees in English raised interest

More than 1300 applicants were vying for a seat in the August 2017 intake.

Higher education in Tampere is of interest all over the world. Altogether seven degree programmes in English at TAMK were open for applications and a total of 1322 arrived before the deadline on Wednesday 25 Jan 2017. There are 213 study places on offer for August start.

In addition to Finnish applicants (562) the most applications arrived from Bangladesh, Ghana, Nepal, Russia, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam. The launch of tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students in 2017 seems not to have as dramatic an effect as anticipated.

The most popular programme in the direct application round was our Bachelor's Degree in Media and Arts, with an impressive 22 percent growth in applicant numbers. There were a total of 334 applications in this round.

Simultaneously there was a joint application round for our International Business (BBA) programme. The absolute number of applicants dipped slightly, but our popularity among other corresponding programmes within Finland rose significantly. Out of all applicants to the programme 44 percent (302) chose TAMK as their primary destination, against 34 percent (361) in 2016.

Our International Business Management (MBA) Master's continues its success with 110 applicants. Newcomer Educational Leadership (MBA) got a very respectable first-time result of 64 applicants.
