TAMK awarded for international student satisfaction

TAMK awarded for international student satisfaction

Finnish higher education received the top score in a survey made by StudyPortals during the academic year 2013-2014. The survey established how international students value European higher education. Tampere University of Applied Sciences was among the top three Finnish HEIs.

In Finland, TAMK, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Oulu received the rating ‘outstanding'.

The University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology were among the HEIs which were rated excellent.

According to the survey, international students value the quality of Finnish higher education as well as the services available for students. Almost 7000 degree and exchange students responded to the survey.
According to TAMK' Director of Higher Education Services Aura Loikkanen, student feedbacks on both education and international services have given corresponding results.

- The high rating shows that we have done our work well. The student experience is based on the education, teachers' professional skills, and services but also the social life, surroundings, and of course Tampere as a city.

TAMK has invested in international students' wellbeing and social life for years. Diverse leisure and study-related activities are organised.

- At TAMK all exchange students have a student tutor who stands by them for the exchange. Language studies utilise the method Each One Teach One in which a Finnish student learns a foreign language and at the same time teaches Finnish to a foreign student. We also have a social counsellor to support international students in integrating into the Finnish society. Other universities of applied sciences do not have one. The Unipoli cooperation of HEIs in Tampere offers a variety of sports possibilities, parties, and friend family activity.
