This programme focuses on discussing the future of education; How to lead people effectively to joint goals in the framework of the given strategy? Examine the management and processes involved in curriculum design before applying these to a curriculum implementation. Gain an understanding of the key concepts of financial management, starting with the principles of obligatory financial accounting.
21st Century Educators from Finland -21st Century Leader in Education consist of three separate online modules. Programme is normally studied over a 25 week or six month period, meaning that the expected workload for a participant is 15 hours per week (378/25).
This course is about one of the core educational leadership issues: how to lead people effectively to joint goals in the framework of the given strategy. The course provides the students with practical tools and methods of contemporary leadership theories and practices, starting with one's own self management and followed by how to motivate and lead other individuals and teams effectively and ethically.
CURRICULUM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
In this course, participants will gain an understanding of the history, nature and types of curriculum used in educational institutions. They will consider curriculum theory and the politics of the curriculum. Participants will examine the management and processes involved in curriculum design before applying these to a curriculum implementation. They will contemplate new trends in curriculum design and the embedding of core skills into a curriculum. The participants will also consider the core skills required by contemporary learners.
In this course, the participants will gain an understanding of the key concepts of financial management, starting with the principles of obligatory financial accounting. Adopting a generic perspective based on the business financial reports, participants will then move on to examine the specific financial management methods used in their own educational context. The participants do not require any prior knowledge of financial accounting or management.

21st Century Educators from Finland -21st Century Leader in Education will be equivalent to approximately 378 hours of student work/14 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
The ECTS credit system is part of the Bologna Process, a series of ministerial meetings and agreements between European countries designed to ensure comparability in the standards and quality of higher education qualifications. There is a requirement within the EU that students study for between 25 – 30 hours per credit unit, in Finland the figure is set at 27 hours per credit unit. The Bologna Process thus requires that a 14 ECTS credit programme of 21st Century Educators requires the participants to have undertaken 378 (27 x 14) hours of study.
