Place: TAMK main campus, Kuntokatu 3
In honour of Finland's centenary, the LUMA Centre Finland network and its partners are starting the StarT operating model that encourages project learning and supports the new curricula. StarT has been targeted at education from early childhood to upper secondary education.
StarT promotes integrative, phenomenon-based and interdisciplinary learning in the interfaces of mathematics, natural sciences, technology, arts, physical education and other subjects. Finland's centenary is celebrated at day care centres', schools' and hobby groups' own StarT Days, regional StarT Festivals all around the country, and the national StarT Gala. The events are open for everyone.
The regional level includes the regional StarT Festivals. In this context, a region refers to the approximately ten university regions in Finland with a regional LUMA Centre. The educational institutions of the region can send the most distinguished creations with their teams to represent the school, day care centre or hobby group at the StarT Festival. The regional event is open to the general public and the media. The best creations and the best practices of educational institutions are rewarded. The grand prize winners will go to the national StarT Gala.
The regional StarT Festival for Pirkanmaa and Southern Ostrobothnia will be held at TAMK on 4 April 2017.
