Tampere3 project to be reorganized

The higher education institutions have come to an agreement on the reorganization of the Tampere3 project. The new target for beginning the operation of the new university group is 1 January 2019.

The project will be led by a new executive group. The group's Chair will be Kari Neilimo, Chair of the Board of the University of Tampere. Other executive group members will be President of Tampere University of Technology Mika Hannula, Vice-rector of UTA Harri Melin, and Vice President of Tampere University of Applied Sciences Mikko Naukkarinen. The new executive group's first task will be to prepare a road map for the reorganized Tampere3 project and to build a new project organization.

- At TAMK, we are committed to continue Tampere3 preparations according to the guidelines agreed with the Ministry of Education and Culture, says President of TAMK Markku Lahtinen.

In addition to the executive group, the project will also have a new strategic steering group consisting of the Presidents, Rectors, and Chairs of the Board from all the Universities. The strategic steering group will meet when necessary, by estimation 2–3 times a year.
