Tampere University of Applied Sciences starts cooperation procedure

The declining basic funding continues to create challenges for operational development.

Tampere University of Applied Sciences prepares to adjust its operations and expenses in accordance with the declining funding from the Finnish Government. By the year 2019, the basic funding for TAMK is expected to decline by 3.2 million euros from the level of year 2017.

TAMK will start a cooperation procedure concerning the whole staff on 14 August 2017. The staff effects of the beginning cooperation procedure are estimated to be a maximum of 20 person-years. The total annual amount of work done for TAMK is ca 750 person-years. The deductions will be implemented through shifting to part-time work or redundancies. Alternative measures will be worked on to minimize the staff effects.

According to President Markku Lahtinen, the future development of TAMK shows more effort in collecting external funding via e.g. R&D operations and business services.
