Student Story - Weiyi Yue

Weiyi Yue

Energy and Environmental Engineering

Home country: China
What are you currently doing: Chemical Technician for an environmental laboratory in Sydney.

How did you find out about TAMK and what made you choose it for your studies?

I was interested in the relevant field I studied in high school, so I chose the Environmental Engineering Degree Programme provided by TAMK for my future career. I heard it was an excellent environmental course.

What did you like most about Tampere and Finland?

I enjoyed the Finnish summer. Sometimes I would go and quietly watch the Nasijarvi lake during the cool and calm summer nights. Other times, I would go to the pub with my friends and have a drink. I have many great memories of Tampere.

In what ways have your studies contributed to your professional and personal life?

I think TAMK's course focused more on practice. We spent a lot of time on operating and experimenting in the laboratory. So when I worked in one of China's environmental monitoring centers as an intern, I possessed strong practical abilities compared with the other interns.

My excellent performance was praised by the other staff. Currently, I joined a great Australian environmental laboratory as a technician and my practical learning experience from TAMK still helps me during my current work. Additionally, I experienced something personal during my studies. Marjukka taught me to be a honest person. I will always remember this. Thanks to TAMK.

How has TAMK supported your needs as a student?

During my studies, TAMK supported me financially. My parents couldn't afford tuition fees. Additionally, TAMK provided me a studio with a reasonable rent. I could put all my energy in my studies rather than having a part time job.

What would you say to anyone considering studying at TAMK?

Join TAMK! TAMK offers genuine degree programmes, opportunities to challenge yourself and learning experiences.
