Home country: Ethiopia
What are you currently doing: Doctoral candidate at the Novo Nordisk Center for Bio-Sustainability, Technical University of Denmark (DTU)

How did you find out about TAMK and what made you choose it for your studies?

It was my dream to study environmental related subjects at a nordic university since they are leading in environmental policy and green economy. I ended up at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) because the quality of education and programmes offered fitted my interests.

What did you like most about Tampere and Finland?

Tampere is a lovely place to live, as it provides you with all the advantages of a big city without its inconveniences. Wherever you live in the city, it only takes a few minutes of walking to lakes and forests.

In what ways have your studies contributed to your professional and personal life?

My studies at TAMK were a life changing opportunity as it created a career path that has been rewarding and meaningful. As result of my undergraduate experience, I am currently doing my doctoral degree on ‘Synthetic biochemical pathways for efficient production of novel biofuels' at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Bio-Sustainability, Technical University of Denmark.

How has TAMK supported your needs as a student?

As far as I know, TAMK supports students by providing sports facilities, student tutor and many more. I personally received 1000€ award for excellent academic record. The award was not only a financial help but also encouraged me to work even harder in my career life.

What would you say to anyone considering studying at TAMK?

Go for it!
