New English website for TAMK. What do you think?

TAMK's new English webpages have been published. The layout, structure, texts, and platform were all renewed at once.

The structure of the website has been designed in such a way that each of our target groups has its own menu.  So there is a separate menu for those interested in studying at TAMK, organizations abroad interested in importing education from us, as well as cooperation partners and companies.

New content and impressive visual design

On this English website, we have given more prominence to TAMK's education export operations.  We have also added information about the services that TAMK offers to companies.  A completely new feature is the page called Why TAMK and Finland? – where we present the positive aspects of Finland, Tampere and TAMK.

- We wanted to draw more attention to the high quality of Finnish education and the unique characteristics of TAMK, explains TAMK's Head of Communications, Leena Stenman.

- We wanted to have more visual website with more photographs. The visual appearance and user interface were designed by Jussi Jokinen from Monsoon Graphics and most of the photographs were taken by Joel Forsman, says project manager Teija Pekkarinen.

The new website is responsive, i.e. can be used with a range of devices.

- In practice it means that the site adapts based on whether it is viewed with a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone, tells Katja Jouttela, who was in charge of the technical implementation.

New platform

The technical platform of the new website is Liferay, which was also used for building TAMK's intranet.

- Technical maintenance becomes easier when there are no separate platforms. The maintenance logic is also the same as in the intranet, which makes administrators' work easier, Katja Jouttela states.

Project goes on

TAMK's Finnish website was published in December 2014.  The website project is on-going.  The library webpages will be renewed next, and they are due to be published later this spring.
