Mediapolis enterprises to plan a cooperative

Aito Media Oy, Aito Tehdas Oy, Mediatec Broadcast Finland Oy, Tampere University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Technopolis PLC, and Yleisradio Oy are planning to establish a Mediapolis cooperative.

The purpose of the Mediapolis cooperative is to promote its members' operation and connect the media field.

"The cooperative is a natural continuation of the Mediapolis work ", says Yle's Head of Mediapolis Minna Tiihonen. "After building the physical environment, the attention is turning to development of operations and establishment of new cooperation forms. A joint player is now needed for the work."

The aim is to establish the cooperative and open it to new members by the end of the year.

The Mediapolis campus started to develop a couple of years ago when Yle sold its Tohloppi facilities to Technopolis PLC, which is a listed company specialised in facilities, renting of premises, and services. At present there are more than 30 organisations including media enterprises, TAMK and Tredu at the campus. Approximately 2,000 persons work or study at the campus daily.

The cooperative aims at promoting its members' operation and connecting the media field especially in the Tampere Region. The cooperative is open for all, not just for those working at the campus.

"The cooperative links different private and public organisations and enterprises. In practice, it enables joint operation in development and business", envisages CEO Aku Syrjä from Aito Tehdas.
