Joint application of spring 2017: TAMK in top four among Finnish HEIs

Higher education had a total of 151,600 applicants in the joint application of spring. Tampere University of Applied Sciences received 18,186 applications.

As regards the number of applicants, TAMK was the second most popular university of applied sciences in Finland. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences had the most applicants. Among all higher education institutions, TAMK was among the top four.

TAMK had almost 8,500 primary applicants

TAMK had 8,467 primary applicants to its 1,705 study places in 39 degree programmes which begin in autumn.

Social and health care education was still the most popular. The Degree Programme in Emergency Care was by far the most interesting. It had 1,699 applicants of whom 628 were primary – more than 25 primary applicants per study place. The Degree Programme in Physiotherapy had 18.1, Midwifery 15.3, Public Health Nursing 15.0, and Social Services 12.5 primary applicants per study place.

The English degree programmes had less applicants but the number of primary applicants remained almost the same as last year or even grew.

– We are very satisfied with the number of applicants. Regardless of the tuition fee for non- EU/EEA applicants, foreign applicants are interested in our degree programmes, says TAMK's Head of Communications Services Leena Stenman.

New degree programmes interested

The most popular of TAMK's new degree programmes was the Degree Programme in Business Administration, Sales Expertise, which had 140 primary applicants (20 study places). As regards master's degree programmes, the most popular was Management of Health Care and Social Services with 146 primary applicants (30 study places).

All admission results to be published on 30 June

The national joint application to higher education ended on 5 April. The data are based on the current situation. All applicants will be informed of their admission situation by email at the turn of June-July.
