Hedda Sander has attended TAMK's International Week in Engineering every year since 2011.

TAMK organized its International Week in Engineering for the eighth time. The last week of January gathered 24 guest lecturers from 9 different countries and 15 universities to Tampere.

- This was the first visit to TAMK for some of the participants. But then again, there are also lecturers who have attended this International Week every year since 2011, says the coordinator of the week, Senior Lecturer Riku-Matti Kinnunen.

- One of those regulars, visiting us every year is Hedda Sander from Germany.

Hedda Sander works at Ostfalia University, Wolfenbüttel, in northern Germany. She is the Dean of Study at the Faculty of Supply Engineering. At TAMK's International Week in Engineering, she taught Bio and Environmental Engineering, more precisely lecturing on Prediction of Harmful Algal Blooms via Smartphone App, Bioremediation Methods for Heavy Metal, and Organic Waste Contamination.

- Our Universities have established a lively Double Degree Programme for student exchange. Working with the students not only at home but also in Finland is an interesting option. Also, we exchange ideas about our mutual study courses and new research subjects, which is always intriguing, says Sander.

Along with lectures, TAMK always organizes some outdoor activities for the attendants of the International Week. Sander mentions that she likes the way TAMK's sports facilities are set in the immediate surroundings with expert support available. Sander also points out that TAMK people are excellent hosts.

Having no experience of any other Finnish university, Sander compares TAMK in an international scale.

- Compared to my international experiences from universities outside EU – and they all are special in their own way with very unique and sometimes stunning profiles – TAMK is a special and innovative place dedicated to education and its students.
