The World Water Day Event 20th March 2012

In benefit of the globally organized UN World Water Day, the students of Degree Programme on Environmental Engineering conduct the annual event in their traditional style in TAMK premises in Kuntokatu on Tuesday 20.3.2012.

The aim of the World Water Day is to raise awareness on the constantly growing world water problem, to pay attention to our daily water use and to offer solutions for the sustainable use of water. UN has declared the covering theme for 2012 as "Water and Food Security".

The day's program consists of various lectures by professionals of the field. The lectures are conducted in English due to the international nature of the event. Essential parts of the event are also the informative bulletins and experiments presented by the students, not forgetting some entertaining content on the topic. The event is free and open to all interested souls!

11.30 Opening ceremony

12.00 - 16.15 Lectures (held in auditorium D1-04):

12.00 - 13.15 Pollution from agricultural areas by Professor Otilija Miseckaite 

13.30 - 14.45 Drinking water treatment by Assistant Professor Seongho Hong

15.00 - 16.15 Phycology, scientific study of algae by Professor Hedda Sander

Games, quizzes, information and experiments throughout the afternoon!
