The invitation letters to the entrance examinations are sent in the middle of March 2012 to all invited applicants.

Entrance Exam Countries

Degree Programme in Environmental Engineering

The TAMK Environmental Engineering Degree Programme does not accept the exam results of any other UAS. The programme will invite all qualified applicants to attend the Environmental Engineering entrance exam which will be held in Tampere on 24 April 2012. It may be possible to take the entrance exam abroad, see below.

The entrance exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part is based on the book ‘State of the World 2011’ published by Worldwatch Institute. (Please notice, that the pre-reading material has changed because of the release date of the book 2012.) The written part includes an essay, short and multiple choise questions and tasks of applied mathematics and chemistry. All applicants are responsible for acquiring the book by themselves (e.g. from www.worldwatch.org). The oral part is an interview.

The maximum points of the entrance examination are 100 points and are based both on the content of the answers and the quality of the applicant’s oral and written skills in the English language. 

Degree Programme in International Business

The TAMK International Business Degree Porgramme will arrange the entrance exam for 2012 in cooperation with the other business programmes cooperating in the FINNIPS network (www.finnips.fi). Therefore, all qualified applicants who have chosen TAMK International Business as their first choice IB-programme will be invited to attend the International Business entrance exam to be held in Tampere on 25 April 2012. It may be possible to take the entrance exam abroad, see below.

Those qualified applicants for whom TAMK International Business is their second, third or fourth-choice IB-programme will be invited by their first choice cooperating IB-programme to attend their entrance exam.
TAMK International Business accepts the exam results of the other UAS IB-programmes in the FINNPS network, but does not accept the results of the possible other networks.

The TAMK International Business entrance exam consists of a written part (an essay, multiple choice questions, tasks of applied mathematics and logic) and a group discussion. The exam essay and multiple choice questions will be based on pre-reading material that the applicants must study before coming to the entrance exam. See Entrance Exam Materials.

The ability to communicate fluently in speaking and writing in English is a prerequisite for admission. Therefore, applicants must pass all the parts of the examination in order to be selected for admission. Applicants scoring below the minimum points for any of the sections will fail the exam.

Degree Programme in Media

The TAMK Media Degree Programme does not accept the exam results of any other UAS. The programme will invite to the entrance exam only 60 qualified applicants whose pre-task sent to TAMK by 14 February 2012 got the best evaluations. Pre-task will be published here. The Media one-day entrance exam will be held in Tampere on 17 or 18 April 2012. It is not possible to take the entrance exam abroad.

The TAMK Media entrance exam consists of an assignment prepared beforehand (to be announced with the invitation), two tasks and an interview. The points for the entrance examination (max. 100 points) are based both on the tasks and assignment (60%) and the interview (40%). The entrance exam will test the applicants’ motivation and suitability for the field.

Applicants scoring less than 50 out of 100 points in the entrance exam are not eligible for admission.

Degree Programme in Nursing

The TAMK Nursing Degree Programme does not accept the exam results of any other UAS. The programme will invite all qualified applicants to attend the Nursing entrance exam to be held in Tampere on 18 April 2012. It is not possible to take the entrance exam abroad.

The exam consists of written parts, group discussion and an interview. There is also a section with applied mathematical tasks and logic in the exam. The applicants to TAMK Nursing are required to have a command of Finnish at basic level 2 at the minimum (http://www.oph.fi/english -> Mobility -> Testing Language Skills -> Descriptions of skill levels). The interview will be held by a psychologist and will be conducted both in Finnish and English.

Applicants scoring less than 30 out of 100 points in the entrance exam are not eligible for admission.

Degree Programme in Tourism

The TAMK Tourism Degree Programme arranges the entrance exams in cooperation with the other UAS in the same field of study. Therefore, all qualified applicants who have chosen TAMK Tourism as their first choice in this same field of study will be invited by letter to attend the Tourism entrance exam to be held in Tampere on 26 April 2012. It may be possible to take the entrance exam abroad, see below.

Those qualified applicants who have chosen TAMK Tourism as their second, third or fourth-choice programme will be invited by their first choice programme in the same field of study to attend their entrance exam. TAMK Tourism accepts the exam results of other UAS which offer a degree programme in the same field of study.

TAMK does not publish the entrance exams for previous years.

Entrance Exams Abroad

The TAMK Environmental Engineering, TAMK International Business and TAMK Tourism degree programmes organise entrance exams abroad in cooperation with the so called FINNIPS network (Finnish Network for International Programmes).

TAMK will invite applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility and language skills by the set date to participate in the entrance exams in the countries listed at the bottom of this page. Applicants will be invited only to Finland and to the country of their address if the exam will be held there.

Applicants applying from these countries will get detailed information of the exam in the invitation letter. FINNIPS network organises the exams abroad in April 2012. See more about the FINNIPS network at www.finnips.fi
