City of Tampere

Tampere is a great city for studying! Altogether, there are almost 40000 university students living in Tampere, which makes it one of the biggest university cities in Finland. In fact, almost every fifth person living in Tampere is a student!

Tampere is student-friendly in many ways: there are plenty of free-time activities and sports facilities, and the city bus connections run smoothly day and night. The local student unions, including the Students' Union of TAMK (Tamko), and the Tampere Chamber of Commerce have initiated a project The Students' Tampere, aiming at bringing students and the business life closer to each other. Over 100 local businesses involved in the project give a student discount to students with a valid student card. More information about the project at www.opiskelijantampere.fi.
