Art and Media in the Finlayson Campus


The Art and Media degree programmes taught in Finnish in the Finlayson Campus are:

  • Bachelor's Degree Programme in Film and Television (4 years, 240 cr)
  • Bachelor's Degree Programme in Fine Art (4 years, 240 cr)
  • MA in Media Production (1 year, 60 cr)

International Degree Programmes taught in English are:

  • Bachelor's Degree Programme in Media (4 years, 240 cr)
  • MA in Screenwriting (1,5 years, 90 cr), a joint degree programme with Salford University

The Finlayson Campus is located in the old cotton mill, right in the heart of the City of Tampere, surrounded by museums, galleries, theatres as well as new media ICT and art companies.

The Art and Media programmes have 30 partner universities in 15 countries. Additionally, the students can do their international exchange period in one of the 160 partner schools of Tampere University of Applied Sciences.

We are member in ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), CILECT (International Association of Cinema and Television Schools) and ELDA (European Lighting and Design Association), as well as a dynamic partner in the EUROPRIX Multimedia Art network.

The Art and Media programmes are involved in the organisation of annual international events, such as the Tampere International Short Film Festival and the MindTrek Conference.

The closest company partners include Finnish television channels, Research Institute of Nokia, Alma Media and a large number of independent production companies of audiovisual and digital media. The cooperation with the appropriate institutes of University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology is tight.

Expert partners include the Association of Independent Producers in Finland SATU, National Technology Agency TEKES, the National Centre of Expertise of Digital Contents and Neogames, the Finnish Centre of Game Business, Research and Development. The local cultural partners are among others Tampere Artists Association, Museum Centre Vapriikki, Gallery Rajatila, Arts Centre Mältinranta, Tampere Hall, The Cultural Administration of the City of Tampere and the local theatres.
