Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL
What is the No Fine January?
- The library does not collect any overtime or other fines in January. You can even ask for your old fines to be cancelled either at the service counter or by phone or email: kirjasto@tamk.fi.
A great opportunity to check your customer information!
BORROWING
How can I borrow a book from the Kuntokatu/ Teiskontie/ Pyynikintie or other TAMK library?
- Go to the library, (check the units), register as a customer and check out a book. It may be a good idea to check first in the PIRKKA or TARKKA database, to see if the book is available.
RENEWAL
Why can't I renew a loan online? The book is not reserved, nor do I owe the library any unpaid fines?- You can renew a loan max ten times. If there are any problems, please contact the library.
RESERVATION
How can I make a reservation for a book in the Kuntokatu/ Teiskontie/ Pyynikintie TAMK library?
- Go to the library in question, (check the units), register as a customer and reserve the book. When you are a PIRAMK / TAMK customer, you can make a reservation in the Net (see the instructions).
RETURN
Can I return the book in any library unit?
- Unfortunately not. The borrowed items should be returned to the library they were borrowed from. The only exceptions to this are Kuntokatu 3 and Finlaysoninkatu units. There is still a daily transportation between these two and their items can be returned to either of them.
LOGGING IN
DELIVERING A FINAL THESIS
Answers to the most frequent questions:
- you should deliver the (public part of your) final thesis to the library by saving it in PDF format in the Theseus electronic library
- if you do not save your final thesis in the electronic library, you should deliver it to the library in binding and hard covers
- the library registers the obtained copy in your Winha student data, but you cannot see the entry in WinhaWille. In case of any problems, you will be contacted.
- TAMK allows no completely confidential final theses and the public part of the thesis is always delivered to the library. If you have a partly confidential or, as a part of the old system a completely confidential final thesis, the library accepts the confidential material, too. Make a paper copy of it or save it as a CD-ROM and put it in an envelope. Close the envelope and write on top of it your name, your teacher's name and the date when the thesis can be published in the library.
- The enclosures that you cannot attach to your final thesis file can be saved in the Theseus as separate pdf files. If you have problems with attaching them, you can return them to the library either electronically or in paper form.
